Head cold - get out there

Chest cold - don't.

Thanks for the advice. That’s very useful to know

Take a few separate tissues in your pocket. Plan a route that passes bins.

I rarely run if I feel under the weather simply because it is unlikely to be enjoyable. When we run we stress our bodies which can exacerbate an illness.

I prefer to recover fully and enjoy running........it should be fun, not torture.

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking the same as I’d been really keen to go out running & with the cold & headache, I’m less keen to go out.

Agree with John we head v chest but if you feel rubbish don't run! As IannodaTruffe points out, you risk making yourself feel worse. The run will always wait!🙂

yeah, just don't. There's absolutely no point. After experimenting with various different strategies over the years, my experience is that just staying in bed and eating well, even for a basic Man Flu, is the best way to ensure it goes away as quick as possible. You'll soon get back into your stride.

Thanks for the advice. Yes the main reason I wanted to go out is that I didn’t want to lose the progress I’d made, but really do feel rubbish.

Listen to your body. If you feel rubbish, rest. Don't worry about your fitness - what;s the rush? You really won't lose much.

Thanks! Good advice. I took a couple of days off and got back today, when I was ready, and felt great! Thanks for the advice. It’s lovely to have the support from this group.

Just take an extra day or two between runs as you will not enjoy it. A cold is usually only bad for 2 or 3 days, run as you start to recover

Agree with all that’s been said. Maybe go for a walk at a good pace instead? Some fresh air and gentle exercises can be good but take it easy. You’ll recover quicker if you give your body a chance to deal with the cold.

Agree with Mikey, you can always go for a walk. Makes you feel like you’ve done something, get some fresh air but not put too much stress on your body. If my body needs an extra recovery day from running then I walk instead

Yes agree with the above advice to give it a break. Rest is not a four-letter word... if you see what i mean😉. Don't give your body extra stress when it's already on alert fighting your cold virus. You'll be back another day, very soon

Thank you so much, fellow runners for your support and advice. I took a couple of days off and was ready to go back this morning. Trying not to think of it as a set back 😃. Thanks !
