Calves of doom

Its now four days since I last ran (w8r1) and while the calf pain was much less than the last two times, its still taking ages for me to be ready to run again. I've done everything right, hydration, new shoes, stretching etc...

Its getting annoying now to be honest. I just want to run without any issues. I'm not going to give up but I really need to get back to running 3 times a week.

Just a thought , are you doing the dynamic warm up excercises before running ?

And the static stretches afterwards ?

I'm doing stretches, primarily targeting my calves. Do you have a link to the stretches you're referring to please, just so I can see if I need to add more to my routine?

It's important though that the static stretches are AFTER the run and not before !

The dynamic are the warm ups

Here's the links

Thank you. On the static stretches, I have been doing the calf specific stretches after my work out, but there doesn't seem to be much for calves on the dynamic side of things.

My recovery time is better each time, so maybe if I keep doing what I'm doing it will improve over time.

I appreciate it! Just sick of my stupid calves lol, they are the only thing holding me back from 5k!

After-run (only) stretches: nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/h...

Don't do such static stretches when your muscles are "cold", only after exercise.

Thank you, these are the stretches I have been doing (mainly the calf ones) I'm going to try and find a couple more to add to it
