I’ve just completed wk 1 r 3 after getting a support bandage to help with my knee pain I’ve now discovered I also have very painful shins ?! Wondering if others have experienced this and any tips for improvement / managing it - thanks 😁

Hey. Welcome!

I had to stop midway through Week 2 as my shin was so painful that even if I touched a certain part of it, it would hurt. To get over it, I ended up getting medication but the biggest two thing which helped me since recovering from that and starting C25K were;

1) Stretching, a lot of stretching. Dr Jo on Youtube is great for all stretches and she has two for shin splints, my favourite was this one youtu.be/9_JaeEm3pXc

2) Compression Sleeves. I've been using these since I started the programme again. I'm not 100% how much benefit it has given in terms of preventing injury as I still get the usual aches which I ice up but I certainly feel less pain with them on when walking around the house hours after a run.

Hope you recover soon!!

I'm currently on week 3 and completed run 1 this morning. I've really been struggling with shin pain in one leg so your tips are really useful!! Im going to give these a try and hopefully my leg pain will ease up! Thanks!!
