On my last run I strained my calf (my soleus muscle to be precise - the lower bit) and thought it would mean a few days off, but those few turned into 18 to be precise! I saw a physio and had my gait analysed, and turns out I'm at high risk of a lower limb injury 🤦🏼♀️ so with a few new stretches and a new pair of running shoes (also turns out my trainers weren't great for my gait) I started back today.
My last successful run almost 3 weeks ago was W6 R2 so I struggled to know where to start today. Do I start W6 again? Or go back to W5? Or even further back??!
I looked back at W6 R1 and it somehow just seemed too easy 😂 so I thought I'd have a go at repeating my last run - W6 R2, and I did it! Just goes to show that even with a few weeks off you don't necessarily lose a huge amount of fitness, it honestly didn't feel much (if any) harder than last time.
So I'm way behind my original 'schedule' and have seen a load of my previous running mates graduating and consolidating, but I'm still going...
