GPS in tree covered woods?

So I've had a break for running whilst we moved house and I now need to find my feet again and a new route. I went for a 25 min run, part of it through forest trails then ran out of road so decided to call it quits today. When I got back I checked Runkeeper and my phone had lost GPS in the forest so my middles split is wrong as is the distance. Can anyone recommend a GPS tracker that works under tree cover?

thanks

You might have better results using a section where you have GPS to work out your average stride length and then setting your watch or phone to calculate distance based on number of strides.

Good idea, I dont currently measure steps as just use run keeper on my phone but that could bea way around it, thank you

I think pretty much all trackers lose signal under bridges and trees. Sorry!

Yeah that's what I thought.... was just hoping someone had found one that worked 😃 Will probably do tags route as a fun run then rather than a tracked one

Often, if you pass under a bridge for instance, a watch will lose the signal for a while but then catch up with a big spike in pace, then your splits are correct. Not sure about Runkeeper, I gave up on it quite early on, I found it very hit and miss.
