Hi,

Has anyone else just taken the plunge and signed up to get off the couch?

It would be nice to share the journey and compare notes along the way.

I am going to start W1R1 tomorrow 17th July.

If it works as it did for me, you’ll find you post about your runs and people at a similar place on the program will comment and support you, as you do to them.

Also more experienced ‘graduates’ may pop in on the thread and offer encouragement and words of wisdom.

It’s a very friendly forum with loads of support.

The program is great, I started on the 11th May (that date is ingrained 😂) and graduated a couple of weeks ago. Bearing in mind I couldn’t run a minute without feeling sick, and am now upto an occasional 5k after 10 weeks!

Main words of advice before you start is to find the sticky thread about the program and read it a couple of times. I only found that when I was considering giving up after that first run, so glad I didn’t btw.

Just joined today. I've tried running w1r1 4 times now over last two weeks. Still can't do it. Didn't think I was so unfit. 2stone overweight. Joined here for advice and hear other people's experiences. Would like to know how your first run goes.

Good luck. Hope it goes well for you. I’m starting off having not exercised for over 10 years so I’m doing it at my own pace. I’m currently repeating week 1 but can feel myself getting better, S

Hello and welcome!

Just started week 3. The weeks go very quickly you'll see. For me everything changed when I tried the slow jogging technique by Prof Tanaka. Now I feel like I can keep up with the distance because I know how to pace myself better.

Check the video on YouTube or in one of my previous posts (been raving about it ever since 😅) It really did make a difference for me.

So my word of advice is: go slow and don't forget to smile! :) 🙌😉

Hi, I’m in my first week just struggled through run2. Could do with some virtual company!! Found today harder than the first run, tight calves were painful. Looked up the stretches to do afterwards - hope this will help for Monday when I try run 3!!
