Well, here I still am, bimbling around at the 3 week mark, and just fancy, two of my real life friends wanted to run it with me! Week 4 is still a bit worrying with its 5 minutes of running, so we ran week 3, then tacked on an extra 3 minute run at the end. We were so pleased with ourselves that we stopped for a celebratory coffee at the nearest cafe. And, wonder of wonders, we dodged the showers! Bonus!
Week 3 and a bit - with buddies!: Well, here I... - Couch to 5K
Week 3 and a bit - with buddies!
Very disciplined grumps, and a happy ending too.👍
Brilliant, running with friends always helps, don't forget bit by bit gets you there
😀
Well done… you know you got week 4 now!
Also in week 3 . Did first 3 minutes today - I struggled (though in my defence was very hot day and I ran at lunchtime). I worry I won’t be able to run more than 3 minutes ever . Do you think many people feel that way too ?
Yes I'm sure but don't worry! Three minutes is a lot more than you've run in one go before. By the time you reach run 3, it should feel easier. The reason it's taking me soooo long is because I'm recovering from a broken ankle, and the ligaments are still not quite right, so I'm having to increase the running times very gradually.Having said that, if you want to do an extra week 3 run, or even repeat the entire week, nobody will mind!
The heat is definitely energy sapping, so if you got through regardless, that's great news. I found the early weeks really tough. My first 3 min run was difficult, my final 5 min run of W4R1 was so slow I was almost stopped! Are you definitely going slow enough? Have you seen these videos on slow running? healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
Beyond that, I'd only worry about the run that's in front of you, not those in the future. By the time you get to them you'll be fit enough to face them. And if you can't, there's no shame in repeating until you can. I struggled with the early runs and had a lot of injuries during my c25k, but through perseverence I have now run for a maximum of 60 mins/7.8k - about 7.7k more than I ever thought possible!
Oh wow that's great! It's not a race to week 9, it's all about enjoying what you do so keep it up
