Once again hard work.... Breathing was much much better, but my HR was quite high. Slowed down to try and get my HR back to a reasonable level.

I've been having to add in extra rest days. You will note my weight, and as such these runs are having quite an impact on my body. I am hoping to go on R3 on Saturday, but will delay if I feel necessary.

See you at the finish line,

Congratulations on completing run 2 of week 7, you can repeat any runs or week's if you wish to, not long now until you graduate.

Look how far you’ve come! You must be heartened to see that, well done. It seems to me that you would do well to keep on taking it slowly for a while. You said you slowed down for your heart rate, so consider sticking at that slower rate? You are meant to be able to have a conversation without gasping and spluttering while you are running. Week 7 is tough! There’s a lot of running there! In some respects I’m finding Week 8 a little easier as my body gets used to those longer runs, but the key is slow and steady.

Great work... listening to your body is very sensible, it’s better to take the extra rest than to go out there knowing that the run is gonna suck... enjoying it is half the battle when it comes to forming this healthy habit/addiction.

Enjoy run 3 and then it’s time for the first of two tiny steps up on the way to the podium.

Hi Sedge

Excellent work! I'm curious about your HR. How do you know it's too high? How do you know your device is telling you the truth? At this stage of your running, the best and most accurate indicator of your effort is your breathing.

If that feels ok, then carry on, you're doing fine.

Hi John,

I know that my HR monitor isnt going to be 100% accurate, but neither are my scales, but I still take notice of them :-) I was in the low 170's at one point... my breathing was ok, not gasping for air as I was in the first couple of weeks, but maybe not capable of holding a long conversation comfortably. I know the answer will be slow down, and then slow down some more, I'm a big fella and I want to make sure I dont push things to hard, but I also need to get into a rhythm that is comfortable.

The answer is probably to keep on running! It will get better. I want to finish the programme before my 42nd Birthday in early August, but my plan isnt to run for longer in the short term, I intend to stick to 30 minutes and just work at improving my aerobic performance.

See you at the finish line.

Looks like you've got a good strategy there tbh. Just carry on as you are and you will get there 100‰👍😁💪
