Queen of da castle

Feeling like a right princess in her castle grounds these days. It was a glorious morning,16 degrees, blue skies, not many people around and I went for a short 20 min run in the nearby castle grounds. I was 2 minutes slower than my usual pace and remembered that it's most fun when it doesn't feel like effort but just a happy plod. It is amazing that these are open and accessible to all!

I am going to try and make the most of my time in Germany now that I am here - it's a shame I didn't manage to run with my dad in his lifetime but I am still running for the two of us now and trying to appreciate my surroundings and my own body for inhabiting and moving through these beautiful spaces whenever I can :)

I wanted to share more photos with you lovely people but haven't quite figured out how to attach more than one to a post!

Who says you can't get any peace in te middle of a big city !

Ah, I thought it must be Berlin, when you wrote 'big city'. But I've never seen the castle from that angle. It's a beautiful park for running or walking.

I'm running on the fringes of Hamburg. It's very flat and quite beautiful. I only run in the countryside, I've never run in the city. Maybe I should try πŸ˜‰

It is indeed! And it's more amazing in the morning - I used to only come here as a child in the afternoon, but it's much more peaceful in the morning :)

I think running in the city is nice if you can either find a time where there's not much traffic or a route with not too much traffic so you don't have to stop all the time. Once you are at a happy pace it's so amazing to run through the city too (I prefer running in parks and forests too usually) - and rediscover its sights in a different light, and also with a different mindset :) Let me know how you get on if you try!
