Safety

I am a bit new to running on the roads and feel very safe during the day and when it is light. When I go back to work I am going to have to do some runs in the evening when it is dark and I have a very concerned husband. Does anyone take anything out with them like an alarm or anything??

Hi, I often run in the dark due to work. I take a phone and wear a head torch, but only on well-lit routes. If I'm going to run my normal route (darker and few people) I take my husband. Sometimes he runs with me, but due to health issues he can't always run so he just cycles. Work shifts permitting, perhaps your husband would like a new hobby!?

Would be great if I didn’t have two small children! Lol! I will try and stick to well lit routes and busy if I can. I can’t think who would want to attack me in that sweaty mess though to be honest! 😂

Ah, never though about children, sorry! Being an old git I'd forgotten about that. Your chances of being attacked are slim (even without the sweat and runners hair!) but you could still trip or have a running injury so please take your phone. Running in the dark is different but I must admit I quite enjoy it. Hope you will too xx

Always take my phone! Need it for my audio book!
