Another 5k in the bag, a little slower than last time as I was being a little cautious after suffering a bit the other night. I’m a little sore again after this run but I’m thinking most of that is probably left over from the last run. Nothing major, just aching muscles, think maybe take a couple more rest days before my next run.
This week has shown me that combining my running with being back at work is gonna need more attention than during furlough. That being said after my first week back i now have two weeks annual leave 😂

I'm the same with regards to running and work, my only option is to run in evening as I start work early. However I'm determined to do it and I'm sure you will to! 👍🏃♂️😊
Good to hear that you are running. Its difficult to keep it up with working. I get up at 5am to run , but I enjoy the feeling all day at work that I did it. Might be different later in the year....
Yeah it's tough fitting it in with work. I'm working from home atm so I use my normal commute time to run in. When I was in the office I got up early to swim as that was the only way it worked.
I'm sure you will sort something out that works for you.
Huge congrats on the 5k 👏👏👏I hope I get there soon.
Well done fitting your runs around work. I'm finding it difficult to fit my runs around work. I'm a nurse practitioner so work long hours between 3 hospital sites. I prefer running in the morning so if I was to run before work I have to be out of the door for 5 am. Due to social distancing at work I have a day off in the week and I currently don't work weekends. To keep enjoying running and not to feel that it is a chore I have set myself a goal to run twice a week, on my day off and again at the weekend. If I feel that I want to go out before work then I will but I'm not going to put pressure on myself to do that. If things change and I go back to my normal working hours I may find it easier to run for 3 days.
You will find a way that works for you. Don't be too hard on yourself. Enjoy your leave.
The aching muscles are probably because they’ve been shocked at having to do what was, just three months ago, your normal daily routine. It’s amazing how quickly our bodies adjust to a new normal, so it’s not surprising that they complain when we want them to up their game a bit.
I’m sure you’ll be doing the right thing by taking it steady and monitoring how much you feel comfortable with, run by run, and you’ll soon be able to combine the demands of a working day alongside your running schedule, with no ill effects.
Well done! I’ve got the “when I have to go back to normal routine how do I fit the runs in” ... nice to see you’ve managed that so far and kept going! 👏🏃🏻♂️
I started this when we were in total lockdown too but have been back at work for several weeks now. I’m tired after work but my trick is this: I get changed into my running gear as soon as I get home, have half a banana and am straight back out the door. Under NO circumstances do I sit down! 🤣 That would be fatal! 😄 The feeling before and afterwards is like night and day! I always feel great afterwards! 😊 You will find your own way I’m sure, though. 😊🏃♀️🐢
