Took a break, need motivation!

I took a break from running after W5R2 because I didn’t feel like I was going to be able to do the third run. Has anybody got any advice how I can push past this barrier? I’m not a strong runner at all but think it’s just a mental thing really so I need some motivation.

Week 5 run 3 is a mental test, your body can do it, it has no concept of time, it's all in your head.

Keep your breathing deep and steady and even if your head tells you that you must stop just keep saying, one more minute, just one more minute.

You can do it, trust the program and believe in yourself.

It’s not uncommon, most people doing the program approach that run with some trepidation. The buzz you feel after completing it is immense though, you can have that as well, just pop your trainers on and have a go, what have you go to lose? 😊

Week 5 run 3 was my mental challenge too .... so I wonder it it will help you to hear out of all the runs so far it has been my most comfortable... read my post!.. I know, there was no one more surprised than me!....

I built it up in my head when the reality was it’s nothing.. it sounds a lot worse than it actually is...

I did it in appalling weather too.. torrential rain and wind so it felt even more of an achievement...

I don’t know how this C25k works but if you trust the programme you will see it does!

This is coming from someone who struggled to run for a minute at a time in week 1. Sadly I didn’t find this forum until around week 4 or you would have read my struggle...

I’m gobsmacked at where I am now... it’s definitely a mental challenge but I dig deep and my little legs carry me thru...

there will be more experienced people on here to offer advice.. I have heard you keep your fitness levels for a couple of weeks so if it’s not been too long then restart week 5... failing that I think it’s important you restart on a week where you know you can do it... that way you will get a bit of confidence behind you...

if I can do it ... I know anybody can!
