Gutted! ... W5R1 completed

Felt good, ran well and even the rain disappeared for today’s run.

All went well then in the 5 min cool down walk, felt my right calf twinge and yep now sore... gutted about it, as so far through the program, no pains or great aches.

Have a sad feeling I’m going to have to delay R2 from the schedule 🙁🙁

Hi Plym,

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🥳👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Fantastic achievement getting to week 5 more than halfway through now!

It’s okay if you have to rest a bit. Have a cold compress, a hot bath and see if you can manage some gentle stretches do them every day and when you run again it should have really helped you.

Look up Strength and flex on the nhs website i used it alongside the couch to 5k and it’s helped me run this injury free this time round. I didn’t do it first time and ended up with an injury and not running again for two years after waiting for ever for physio seeing three different people before finally paying to see someone.

Thanks for the advice ... that is really kind. Already googling the pages you suggested.

Cold press on ... just trying to convince the other half to run a bath for me ... after all, I’m wounded ! ... but think I’ll fail and have to do it myself.

Listen to your body. Put in an extra rest day, or two or three. I had a sore calf early on in C2_5K and rested and repeated some earlier runs when I felt the leg was healed. I'm now on week 8 and finished run 2 this morning. Patience is a great virtue for runners.

Thank you ... I will do.

Been slightly worried as I do tend to not finish programs .. as many a gym had done well from me in the past with my 5 or 6 visits for a year’s membership! But the support from the guys in here as personified by your message means I’m more committed than the past.

Well done for the run! I can understand your disappointment and frustration, but it happens. Follow the advice, rest up and be patient! It won’t be too long before you are out there doing R2.
