Hi! This may be a dippy question, but I’ve just completed week 5 and I’m still not sure whether we’re supposed to count the warmup/cool down walks at the start and end?! Do they count towards the distance we’re covering? So when we are able to run 5K, is that including the walks too? Or is it just the 30 mins of running that should be around 5K? 🙈
Do you track the 5 min warmup/cool downs? - Couch to 5K
Do you track the 5 min warmup/cool downs?
I feel maybe it is not in with the 5K but then the 5K is only a catchy way to get us out there! I always start my tracking as soon as I leave the house or I may forget to press start!! happy running how every far.
Well done.. but forget about getting to 5k on c25k, it's just about getting to 30 mins running at w9, so all you have to do is listen to the instruction and follow the times.
As for tracking, that's up to you, there's no requirement to do that..
While I was doing the interval runs I did include the warm up and cool down walks. Once I started on the longer runs I just tracked the run to give me a more accurate distance and pace. It is up to you how you want to track your progress.
Welcome to the forum.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.
If you want to know how far you run........just measure the running.
If you want to know how far you go in the full workout......measure it all.
Enjoy your journey.
I used to initially, but when I actually realised I would stick at it I started to feel a bit competitive with myself so only wanted to track the running 😊
