Do not trust your fitbit

I have now done my first 5k using onthegomap on my mobile and it took me... 48 minutes !!! Whereas according to my fitbit the distance run was 6.2km... this means that throughout the entire c25k programme i thought i was much closer to 5km than i really was... the truth is i run super super slow (japanese style) but at 66 years old and 10 weeks into running i am extatic at having run 48 minutes without stopping and still able to hold a conversation... 48 minutes!!! I shall let you know how i feel when i wake up😂😂😂

Well done on the 5k!

As to Fitbit not measuring correctly, I assume you have a model without gps? You can set your stride length in advanced settings which will make it more accurate.

Even with stride length, your distance won't be very accurate.

A dedicated GPS running watch is the best solution.

Thanks for the advice. i now realise my "moonwalking" steps are much shorter than my usual walking strides... so indeed i shall have to reset my fitbit

I wear my fitbit but I also wear my Garmin running watch and that is more accurate. That's what I rely on to check my progress. By the way I am also 66. I used to do lots of running but not for a while. I'm on week 4 - day three today. So far so good!

Well done on your progress... just shows we are never too old to start or restart
