How to up my pace and what next?

I have a couple of questions, I have one run left on the CT5K and am currently only running around my garden due to having children in bed at the time I run. My last run I tracked on my fitbit and it is saying I only ran 1.27 miles (I am not sure if it isn't fully tracking it due to me just running in a small space). Before I lockdown I couldn't run at all so am really pleased with just being to keep my legs going for 30 minutes. Can anyone advice how I get this up to 5k? and the other question is what have people gone on to do after this?

There is a guide to post graduate running, which is well worth reading. Also a consolidation club to join and exchange ideas. Running in the garden shows real determination!

I went on to bridge to 10k - there’s another forum to join with the programme in the pinned posts. Can’t you get out at all?

Some people go on from C25k to run 10ks, half marathons, marathons and ultras. Others just maintain their fitness with three runs per week and some....... a surprising number ......go back to the couch.

When you announce your graduation I will send you a link to a guide to post C25k running.

If you cannot wait, it is sitting in the FAQ Posts, which you will find in the Pinned Posts.

You need to consider what you want to get out of your running as there are so many options, but probably rather limited in your back garden.

To get to 5k you will need to increase the duration of your runs, or one of them.

Hopefully C25k has taught you the value of a well structured progressive training plan to push you forward towards whatever target you aim for in future.

The running world is your oyster... use the months or so of consolidation to really think about where you want to go with your running. Common goals are

- achieve 5k if C25K didnt get you there

- very simple, just extend 1 of your runs a little bit each week by a few minutes - don;t worry about pace

- improve your 5k times

- extend to 10k and beyond

(see the bridge to 10K forum and ju-ju- 's 10k plan)

... but there are also Bridge to 10K or 5-10k apps available.

- start going to Parkruns (when they start up again)

But first... consolidate and that means 3x 30mins per week for a month or so. ... and there's a club for that too . Mummycav is your gal :-)

Hope that helps.
