Shop is better, a proper running shop, they will do a gate analysis and recommend the best trainers for you, it’s worth it weight in gold,

This post will hopefully help. healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

In the absence of gait analysis, which is highly recommended, the wet foot test mentioned in the post is a good second best.

You cannot tell online how comfortable a shoe is going to feel or fit and cannot compare different brands/models, so It may be worth waiting until the middle of June to visit your local independent running shop.......not sports discount shed.

I bought a £40 pair off Amazon which I’m really happy with. Under armour pursuit. I didn’t want to spend too much money and just wanted to crack on with it before my enthusiasm went away. But I’ve only done three weeks. Already bought new shorts, socks, t-shirt so could easily see myself buying new proper daps with gait analysis at some point. Firm believer in trying to find every advantage to run more comfortably.

This website is offering virtual gait analysis, which is better than nothing.

I’ve spent so much money on trainers that don’t offer me the right support; I hadn’t realised how little support they offered until I had the analysis and was recommended the right shoes. Once I knew what I needed, I just kept Googling until I found the best price.

It’s also worth mentioning that Brooks and Asics offer 90 day money back if you don’t get on with your new shoes (when you buy through their websites).

Wow. This looks so thorough! I’ve never had my gait checked, so they do all of this in most stores too?

Yeah, it’s kind of embarrassing in the middle of a shop 🙈 but it’s worth it. Most shops selling running shoes do it I think. I went to an Asics outlet, so obviously they recommended their own shoes 🤷🏻‍♀️, but I now know that I over pronate!
