First run!

I felt able to do most of the runs but had calf muscle pain that stopped me.

Will try again tomorrow.

Hi, well done, i have just completed week 1 about 30 minutes ago !

what i can tell you is that on my first run, i did no warm up and cool down exercises and for me, it was my thighs that gave me trouble the day after , i ended up using ice packs on my rest day .

i still did run 2 after my rest day but i followed the warm up as recommended on here and also the post run exercises also from on here.

i did the same today before and after run 3 and all is well.

i will not miss these out from now on .

hope this helps and good luck !

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Have a rest day before your next run.

Enjoy your journey.

Yes, so clearly the calf muscles are the weak point right now. I'm going to target them with warmups and cooldowns and will do some gentle in-home exercise on them on restday, which is Sunday.

Thanks everyone!
