Tomorrow sees the end of week 6 - 25 whole minutes of running. I am excited and keep reminding my self it’s just 5 little minutes more than last Friday.... right? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Maintain a pace at which you can speak aloud, clear, ungasping sentences as you run.

Make sure that you drink a minimum of 2.5-3 litres of fluids today and keep topped up before your run and you will be fine.

Yes, I have upped my fluids today! I am going to go first thing in the morning. If I don’t run in the mornings I talk my self out of it πŸ™ˆ

Hi, I've read your comments about fluid intake but the amount you recommend seems impossible to me. I never measure my intake but I drink 3 mugs of coffee a day, one mug of herbal tea, 3 small glasses of water. I drink more water if I've been for a walk or my C25K run, but nowhere near the 2.5 litre a day mark. I've tried to consciously drink more water but it doesn't sit comfortably with me. I got to week 5 with no problems, but did have the heavy legs at week 6 run 1. I put it down to the much warmer weather as I've got used to running early on cool mornings.

Maybe this will help you increase your intake healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

If you want to run, or do any hard physical exercise, and want your body to function optimally, then you need to make sure that you are fully hydrated. You are far more likely to suffer aches pains and injuries if hydration is poor.

Thanks very much for the advice, I've read those articles. I'm amazed I've got this far without suffering any stitches or cramps. The heavy legs was a warning, and I did notice I was hotter than usual - I will make sure I am well hydrated from now on.

Absolutely correct, it’s just 5 minutes on last weeks run... and the tricky intervals you’ve already done in week 6 will have prepared you nicely for it. Slow and steady as you go, especially in the first half of the run. You can do it... have fun.
