The last couple of days have brought a return of winter here in the North East, a cold northerly wind meaning any chances of continuing to run in T shirt and shorts were gone for the time being, at least for this soft southerner.
I'm sticking close to the village for these early runs and today saw the start of Week 2.
I am still amazed how much fitness I've lost since last September's Great North Run but to start of today I thought I would fo a little bit more at least and ran for 5 minutes to start then settled into following the 2 minutes walk/1 and a half minutes run cycle.
The legs are slowly (very slowly) getting there but my breathing is horrendous, partly because the asthma has been poor for weeks now and I'm finding it really tough whereas beforehand I naively thought I would sail through it.
A lesson learnt and that's probably a good message for all of us on here, never take your running for granted.
Might go out again tomorrow, we shall see but in the meantime, a big well done to all who ran today, especially if you are just starting out and doubting yourself.
YOU CAN AND WILL DO IT.
Run happy, run safe.
