Yesterday was nice... until the last five minutes. I found a new route in my neighborhood - residential streets with no commerce or massive circulation of cars. It was perfect, a pleasant afternoon, sunny but not very warm. I was running at a comfortable pace, listening to an interesting podcast and thinking about how close I was to reaching the 30 minute run.
And then: a stumble and a fall. Scraped hands and knees, a broken cell phone screen and, worse, a sprained foot.
Now I'm really upset. I was so close and my progress was interrupted by my inattention. I don't know how many days I will need to recover (nor will I seek a medical emergency in the middle of the pandemic to know the real extent of the damage). Today I'm here with an ice pack on my foot, a cat on my lap and very afraid to interrupt the program in the final stretch. I don't know when I'll be able to run again - three days, five, a week, more? Or if I'll lose the little conditioning I acquired in the waiting.
I would like to have better news to report here. I hope you are well, safe and free of injuries from distractions.
