WK1 finished! Thank god for that. I'm not enjoying it. My legs and knees hurt and feel like lead weights. Any advice as dreading the next weeks. ;

When did you last exercise or run before you started your c25k?

Hi I walk every day at least 10k. I have been doing Joe Wicks with the kids every morning and before lockdown did the Gym and netball. I've just posted an about me post. I have put weight on so just feel like a heavy elephant stomping my way thru the park. :(

I've never felt like this during netball pr the gym?

That fitness will return Erun give it time, go easy on yourself it could be a case of little by little, and we never know what effects meds have on our bodies. That ache could just be your muscles shouting hello this is new !!! But after a while they'll love you for it 👍👍

The C25K training program is to be enjoyed, you are not supposed to dread any run, perhaps you have been running too fast,

Take a extra day off running, drink plenty of water the day before you run and the day you run too, you'll find by running a little slower you should start to enjoy your runs and your legs and knees won't hurt any more, a little tip to you, don't look ahead at future weeks or runs, wait for the instructions from your coach before you run.

Thanks... I'm dreading any future runs so dare not look. Appreciate the advice.

There's always the option to do week one again. If I don't feel I'm able to do the first run on week two, that's my intention. I'm finding this hard work too, but I enjoyed my run/walk tonight. Stay safe everyone!

Welcome to the forum and well done on

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Heavy legs can be symptomatic of poor hydration. As a runner you need to drink 2.5 -3 litres of fluid each and every day, running or not, as mentioned in the guide.

Enjoy your journey.

It gets easier! First week my legs and shins ached terribly I’m just starting week 4 and they don’t hurt at all! Just body getting used to something it’s not used to doing! Stick with it! You can do it! x
