Lower back pain

Hi fellow runner friends,

Hope you’re all staying safe and keeping well.

I’m at the end of week 4 and my lower back is aching a little. Especially when I first get out of bed in the morning.

Has anyone got any suggestions on preventing this?

Em x

Hi Em I have suffered from lower back pain and find the post run stretches and foam rolling my legs essential. I can really tell in the am if I haven’t stretched off properly the day before. Also I am trying to make my running as smooth as possible, I found when I was starting out that I was slapping my feet down which probably didn’t help. On week 4 now and things are starting to get easier 🙂

Thank you 🙏🏼 I shall try and stretch a little more. X

Runners need good core strength, so anything that improves that will help reduce the risk of lower back pain, assuming it is not caused by an injury.

Planks and bridges do it for me.

I’ll definitely try doing some core exercises! Thank you for this x
