Exactly 2 years since I stepped out to try to do Run 1 of Week 1 of Couch to 5K, at the age of 68, having not knowingly run a step since 1966. It was moderately disastrous. I managed the 1st 60 seconds okay, wheezed my way through the 2nd, and then it went seriously downhill - and I don't mean the gradient.
So here we are 2 years later nipping out for a 7Km 'Socially Distanced Exercise'. The picture is of my new 7Km Only after Drought Run. The mountain is Skiddaw, and my house is over there somewhere. You will notice how flat it is, there are 4 fields flat, the rest is up and down.
Hope you are all well and happy.

Happy 2nd runniversary theoldfellow ! Mine too, having started as a mere 56 year old, but I just went for a 5k today - was going to do 10 but by the time my work call finished it was far too hot. Here’s to many more 🥂
Happy Runniversary theoldfellow, haven’t those 2 years sped by too. It’s been a pleasure to join you on this epic journey and you’ve been such an encouragement to others along the way. We will meet in the Lake District one day. 😎😃
How wonderful. I feel inspired. I have been thinking of doing the couch to 5k for some time noe. Finally bought the kit 3 weeks ago but only braved the girts run today.
I am not sure how well it went but I did it. I do feel slightly worse for wear though.
Any tips and tricks for keeping my motivation will be gladly appreciated
First run is a BIG thing. You are asking your mind and body to do something that it's designed to do, but isn't used to doing yet. But doing that first run, or actually just putting on the kit and going out to try, that's the hardest of all.
The mind is harder to train than the body.
The REST DAY is really important. To improve muscles and cardio you need to actually micro-damage the muscles - we call it training, but that's what it is. And then you need to give them 24-48 hours to heal. Longer when you are a beginner - 'cos you have to train the repair crew too.
Don't worry about motivation, after 12 weeks this will be a habit...
