Blister help

Day 1 Week 1. Not a good start, went slow, done really well, all fine until my last 5 min warm down walk. Heel started to hurt, very red & this morning had a huge blister. Very glad the weather is warm, can only wear flip flops now. Trainers are relatively new (hardly any wear) but not worn for a couple of years so guess this is where I went wrong as they are correct size & weren’t slipping at all. Think I could be out for at least a week, any tips on how I can stop this from happening to me next time. Pretty painful

If you can get blister plasters from your supermarket, they will make you much more comfortable.

Do you have any other trainers? Thicker socks, eg padded sports socks?

Once lockdown is over (& once you know that you want to continue running) I would recommend a trip to a running shoe shop, having gait analysis & getting shoes that are right for you. 😄

Got tested & I overpronate quite a lot so have trainers that correct this and which I find to be supportive & so stable but thankyou for the advice about the plasters and socks. Didn’t even occur to me to pad my feet out, stupid me wore thin socks in case my feet got too hurt ☹️ Will go on a shopping spree when we are allowed 😊

Oh that’s great that you already have shoes to correct overpronation. - Me too!😄

It takes a bit of trial & error to find the best socks. I bought running socks online- they are very comfy & make quite a difference.

Good luck with your next run, go gently & enjoy your journey. 😄

Hi.

I will second the Compeed they heal your blisters as well, like a second skin expensive but worth it if you can get them you will be able to run and not wait for blister to heal.
