I’ve been consolidating after dragging myself through C25k again ( after illness), then decided to up my game a bit and do Stepping Stones again 4 or 5 times and managed to get a little faster and a little further. Today I decided to just go and pootle with no particular aim as I have had 4 lousy nights sleep in a row now. No particular reason -just either struggled to drop off or kept waking up. So I thought I’m not going to overload myself I’m just going to run.
So I did!! And thoroughly enjoyed it. I put on Week 9s podcast for music as I really enjoy that one and I just meandered about. I had to dodge a few pedestrians as I set off but then I got out onto the Tarka Trail and there were just 3 other runners going the other way and a dog walking couple and 2 cyclists. We all kept to our own side, smiled and said Good Morning and that was great. The Trail is paved and is about 2 metres across all the way so no issues there.
I ran out for about 18 minutes then turned where it was convenient and retraced my steps. When I got back to town it was about 25 minutes and I decided to run round Castle Green and save myself having to run through the end of town as it was gone 9.00 by now. So round I went then carried on and decided to go a little longer and complete 4k. Just under 32 minutes. No prizes for speed but I was 11 seconds a km faster than the last time a week or so ago. So I’m pleased.
Walked home smiling to myself and enjoying the blossom and birdsong, had my shower and as I got out my phone reminder pinged to say “10.00 Pilates”. Arrggh!! I’d forgotten it was Friday!!
So I had 10 mins to dress and sort my mat out, then dialled into ZOOM just in time to hear Rachael say “ today I thought we’d concentrate on Glutes!!”. Oh goody!! But actually whether it was because I was already warm it wasn’t too bad and now I feel set up for the day.
Stay safe and happy running folks 😁
