Improving time

Just a question, I’m just beginning week 7 and I still seem to be going alright (quite a slow pace but not stopping), but would like to train to improve my pace, would you recommend starting the program again but at a quicker pace, or finish the program at my slow pace and eventually increase distance? Not sure if my question makes sense

Continue with the course until the end when you graduate, after that you can try the pace and speed podcasts with Laura.

Go to Healthunlocked Stepping Stones Podcasts with Laura, for pace speed and stamina.

When you announce your graduation I will send you a link to a guide to post C25k running which covers speeding up.

(psssst. if you can't wait, it is in the FAQ Posts)

For now just keep a steady pace and finish each run with a bit to spare.

You’re still in the early days of your running adventures... this plan is all about running for a time, and my in ear coach always reminds me that running faster won’t end a timed run sooner... so run easy. There’s a time to push pace, and it’s not during C25K.

More endurance is the key to going faster, as is slow running. You’ll find out all about theses things soon enough. For now, enjoy closing this plan out!

I would second what the wise ones above recommend, complete the programme first and then consolidate before worrying about speed. I decided on my first consolidation run that I could suddenly run faster, bad mistake, only managed 5 mins and it zapped my confidence, now, 2 weeks on I have got back to running slowly and managed 35 minutes today, and really enjoyed it. Don’t rush, there are no races out there at the moment! Xx

Yes, I’d stay as you are till you graduate. You can then consolidate which is recommended for another 3 weeks.

Here’s a link to the stepping stones podcasts, but I’d leave them until a later date if I were you 😁

Haha thanks- the read will be nice but will definitely hold off. But thanks for sharing the link- it’s good knowing what’s to come and having a long term plan I reckon

Oh definitely finish the programme and then gradually build speed, if you feel the need to. No need to push for that now, it's much better to finish the programme injury-free! Good luck!
