Morning! I hope you’re all maintaining your fitness, whilst working in isolation.

Over the past 2 years, I’ve had a torn MCL and torn ankle ligaments which has basically finished any of hope of me playing competitive football again. Unfortunately I went from 12 stone to 17 stone in this period (I really wished I’d eaten less in hindsight).

So I returned to running, with the help of the C25K app, the weight has started to drop off and I feel that I’m starting to cut back into shape. It’s slow progress, I used to run a 7 minute mile, now I’m somewhere I between 11 - 12 minutes.

My general fitness feels okay, I don’t get stitch, I don’t feel overly tired, however my previously broken bits start to hurt for the first time yesterday. I’m really starting to ache around my ankles, knees etc? Any suggestions from other people that are doing this, to come back from injury?

Be kind to your body and patient. It takes a long time for our bodies to recover and you will possibly always have weaknesses in the areas of your injuries.

Minimising impact, stretching after every run and strengthening exercises, as detailed in the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... will all help.

Also, forgetting about what you used to do will be helpful..........compare yourself to how you were before you started C25k, not to what you used to do when younger and fitter.

Enjoy your journey.

Morning. The Japanese Slow Jogging technique might help you in minimising the impact on your joints. A lot of forum members have used it successfully to reduce impact and get themselves successfully to graduation. I hope it helps. m.youtube.com/watch?v=9L2b2...
