Hi all, just wondering if there is anything wrong with running every day?

It’s keeping my sane at the moment but don’t want to over do it and ruin my progress!

Thanks

Depends on how long you have been running and your age, the rest day is not negotiable but that doesn’t mean you can’t go for a long walk and get tour fresh air that way

There is a pinned post that explains it in detail so always worth reading

Have fun and stay safe

I do the Strength and Flexibility program on off days. Read the faqs pinned on the right. It explains why a running rest day is a must.

Noooo! Rest days are crucial to allow your muscles to rest and repair between runs. You are also more likely to be injured if you don’t rest. Take care.

From what I can see (and feel in my body) we are increasing fitness and muscles etc- and so need a rest day to consolidate that.

If we were running a steady and non challenging distance then perhaps every day could work.

Over-pushing increases the risk of accident, muscle damage and even mentally being put off running.

Which would be a shame.

You need days off so that your body can repair itself, so unless you are very experienced you should take days off inbetween runs.. you could walk instead. :)

Welcome to the forum.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and explains that when you run, the impact creates microtears in your muscles, which repair and strengthen on your rest days, not while running. Without rest, repair and strengthening are compromised and injury risk increased.

Enjoy your journey.
