In truth, I dusted myself. It was sunny, I felt good, I knew I was going to finish w8 today, and just ran too fast. Barely made it half way. Walked the rest. Beat myself up all the way back. Found perspective doing my stretches.
Lessons learned: treat yourself as kindly as you treat others (hard to do sometimes), it's OK to not finish sometimes (I can use the practice), there will be another run in a couple of days, and most importantly I am much better off not finishing than not running.
This forum talked me down. I knew what you would say in advance. You're in my head. Thanks everyone.

In the early days I ran with my daughter sometimes and she is nearly 2 minutes a km faster than me.she would split the difference and be grumbling and I wd be struggling to keep up and be miserable. Now I just run at my slower pace ( she stopped running about 18 months ago) and Iβm still going. π
Well dieOR5k, I will say it anyway. Well done for getting out there running...more than many did today. So you had a shorter run today at a fast pace. Great for training. FAIL =First attempt in learning. It sounds like you did just that. The fact that you got your head together too also sounds excellent. You are really learning lots of new techniques in life management as well as running. Great post. Looking out for the next one. Take care.
