Problem with my knees : I’m now on week 3 it’s... - Couch to 5K
Problem with my knees
I had this problem I went to the local runners shop and had my gait checked. I could clearly see the problem. They recommended a shoe with side support. Two days later running with the new shoes and my pain disappeared. That was in week4. Since then I have graduated and have done rwo 5k runs. No sign of my knee problem since then.
I am not saying this will solve your problem but its worth investigating. But if you do then go to a shop who you feel you can trust and understand what the problems might be. Hope this helps and you soon recover.
Thanks for your helpful reply I did think to be honest it could be something like that but wanted to see if anyone else had the same problem before I went buying more shoes
Yes proceed with caution. The shoes are not cheap thats why I went to a shop that specialised and not just any old sport shop. But my new shoes have not only cured my knee problem but running in them feels like running on air so it was a win win situation with me.
What make did you go for in the end
Brooks Adrenaline although the store did say that an Asics shoe would have been as good. I tried both makes and decided the Brooks pair felt slightly more comforatable.
Have a look at this clip on the Japanese Slow Jogging technique. It reduces the impact on your joints. It’s well known and used on the forum, so apologies if you’ve seen it already!
Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
