Help! Didn’t manage my run!

Hi folks - love this forum and all of your positive posts. Feeling a bit blue today. Attempted w7r1 and only managed 7 mins! I did have a big weekend but am now panicking that I’ve ruined all my hard work. It’s taken me nearly 3 months to get this far. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Xx

Everyone has bad runs - rarely is it personal and rarely does it last. Some combo of circumstances just makes it tough occasionally and you will learn to put it behind you. I know, because every runner at every level has been there! 😳 You certainly won’t have ruined your running life, so don’t worry. Take your rest day, drink plenty of water, chalk it all up to experience. And when you get back out there, don’t set off too fast! That’s often the trouble, do take it steady. You can always speed up later in the run. Good b luck. 👍😊

Tha is so much for the support - I’ll definitely get out there on wed and give it my best shot. It’s so lovely to hear from people further down the line x

You’ll do it. Just take it steady. 😊👍

Hey oliverunner we've all missed runs, put it to one side and go again, you've come this far so you've no problems 🙂

Everyone does, even AFTER graduation :)

We are humans, not machines after all :) I've run a few HMs but there are still the occasional days when I simply don't finish anything like a complete run for no reason I can identify. Some days isimply "just don't feel like running on!" :)

One caveat though - the "toxic ten" or in my case the first twenty minutes before I settle into my stride, speed and distance. Those 20 minutes or so are tough - but the the fun in the run kicks in :)

Hiya - yes! That’s exactly what happened to me. I got to a shop and just stopped, then went in and brought ice cream as if I was under some sort of spell. The mind thing is so important to conquer - I must make sure I do t run past any more ice cream shops. Well done on the HMs, btw. Very inspiring x

Come back tomorrow and start afresh.

It's not the end of the world if you need to miss a day for any reason.

Thanks love, much appreciated. I know logically it doesn’t matter but the fact that I’ve been able to get this far is so miraculous that I don’t want to let it go, if you know what I mean x

Just a bad run, try not to overthink it, just put it behind you, you’ve got this far so it’s nothing to do with your fitness level or commitment. Get some inspirational music on, nice steady pace get a steady rhythm going with your breathing and and you’ll definitely do it 👊

This experience won't have put a stop to your running at all. It was probably the toxic ten, which perhaps caught you by surprise. If it happens again, try to relax, don't panic and slow down, taking nice slow breaths!

Good luck

Thank you. Yes, this toxic ten thing is a definite thing that I need to be aware of and push through x

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and explains how to approach the plan.

Life happens and we all have less than good runs, but as you have probably deduced, good preparation makes it all so much easier.

It will take two weeks of non running before you notice significant condition.

Enjoy your journey.
