Im currently completing c25k again after a long time out injured. I have just completed R1 of week 6 and feel it went okay. I am 6”5 and have a bmi of 30 (obese) At the start of week 4 i weighed myself and was 269lbs around 2 weeks later i im 260lbs i am very pleased with this progress. I have been trying to eat more healthy and recording calories of what i consume while also lifting weights in the gym and doing other cardio sessions along with c25k. However i don’t really have a structured weight programme and just seem to make it up as i go along. Has anyone followed a weight programme or other exercise programmes online that has been successful? Thanks in advance

Hi!! I am overweight and have had knee problems since running. I have just started attending a strength class for runners which is supposed to help minimise injury. I already felt the benefit yesterday during parkrun after only 1 strength session. I recommend looking for something (either a class or a free video) online. It should include exercises to strengthen your legs like squats/lunges and ab work (as strong abs are also important for runners). Only thing I would say would be when you squat or lunge, make sure you don't let your knees go over your toes (always make sure you can see your toes as you can really damage your knees if you do it incorrectly). This sort of thing should help with weight loss as well as keep you strong for running. I've heard that swimming/elliptical/cycling/strength exercises are all excellent forms of cross training for runners. Good luck! Running is magic.
