Finished w8r3 but getting slower 😞

Hey folks, just finished w8r3 and I’m pleased I did it but I’m feeling so drained and just want to cry. First run was great but 2 and 3 was such an effort, not sure why. Anyone else have runs like this?

Some runs are just a slog and it feels like you’re going backwards. Are you getting enough rest between runs/hydrating etc? Sounds like you’re doing brilliantly, so keep it going. Every run is worth it in its own way. Good luck 👍🏻

Well done, you did it.

Everything going on in our lives can impact on our performance as a runner. Restedness, hydration and nutrition are at the top of my list of variables that need to be optimised to enable enjoyable running.

Thank you - not sure I have got the nutrition bit right, when and what to eat before running. Think I’m hydrated ok.

Well done for getting through the runs! I found the ladt couple of weeks quite intense and some of the runs were a struggle. Try not to be disheartened and don't worry about the speed at the moment. You are building strength and stamina each time you run

The tough runs don't always feel like an achievement but they actually are!

Thank you

All the time. Bad runs make the good ones sweeter. No explanation for many poor runs. They're just those runs. Can link in with hormones though.

Yeah that’s possible - thanks

If you are doing all of the rest, food and water stuff, then there is not much to say except that some runs feel a bit rubbish. If it carrys on then have but more of an evaluation of this things and if they are all fine then go to the docs.

Maybe take a day or two off? Give yourself a bit of a rest. It is a lot to put on the top of normal hectic lives! Look after yourself, you deserve it. 😁

Hi Synbabe ...try not to feel disheartened, what you’re doing is a fantastic thing and some runs are better than other, don’t forget, you’re making your body do something that it hasn’t done probably for years so your bound to have the odd hard run...speed is not something you should worry about at this stage either, as long as you’re completing the runs, you will get to the end of the programme and that is when, if you want to, you should work on your speed and/or distance. There’s no need to put pressure on yourself, the longer the run, the slower the pace, you are doing just the right thing, honestly 😉

Just an update, I repeated r3w8 this evening and it felt much better, actually felt like I was running this time. No speedy gonzalez of course but I am much happier today! Thanks for your support folks xxxx
