Welcome! You'll get lots of support on the forum! Support to get out of the door, reassurance if you feel unsure, support if you get any niggles, celebration when you complete a run.

Trust the plan, go slow and you'll be fine!

I joined here a few weeks ago and I couldnโ€™t have completed these 4 weeks without the support of the forum :) Good luck ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ

Welcome from another old lady (63) Ive just completed week 4, this forum is the best, if you have a problem there is always someone who has had that problem before and overcome it. Keep us all posted with your progress x

Thank you! Iโ€™m a bit worried about my knees as I tried 3-4 park runs about two years ago and the bursae became swollen. Iโ€™m going to try to take this slowly so I donโ€™t get the same problems!

Look after your knees by doing the strengthening exercises. I have mild arthritis in my knees and have to work on exercising them, but the programme builds gently so you'll be fine.

Let's stop calling ourselves old ladies- we are goddesses!

Iโ€™m happy to use this as my alias, but generally consider myself a god(ess) too!

Thanks - Iโ€™ve just had a good read, thereโ€™s lots to take in but Iโ€™m already feeling better informed.

Well done , the hardest part of any new `journey` is the first step.

I`m sure you'll find this one brilliant!๐Ÿ˜Š

Hi Oldlady.

I'm quite a few years older than you and I am on week 8 now.

Those first few weeks can be tough and you might question whether you can actually stay the course.

Believe me, it gets better and the feelings of achievement are just brilliant. Stick with the program - and if you need an extra days rest between runs just take it. If you are struggling during a run, just slow down and let your body recover. The important thing is to finish the run. The times are not important now.

Good luck. You can definitely do this!

Wise words, thank you! Iโ€™ve been doing some Achilles stretching today and some walking. Iโ€™ve an online running buddy (former student of mine!) so that will help me too I hope.

From one old lady 62 to another ......Welcome! . You will get bags and bags of support from everyone here. itโ€™s one big happy running family!๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—

Hi from another old lady , I started the programme on 1st January a few weeks before my 69th birthday, never run before and also have dodgy knees ๐Ÿ˜„. Iโ€™ve got to week 6 and as Phdgranny says , if you have a problem there is always someone who has felt the same and overcome it. I am just going steady and slow as everyone on here recommends. We can do it !!

Welcome Oldlady64 from a 61 year old who started this programme in January. I am on W6R1 now and can't believe I got this far. I agree with what Boboz says, take it slow and times are not important. This forum is wonderful for advice and encouragement and I love the fact that there are a lot of people out age out there doing the programme. Happy running ๐Ÿ˜

Thank you! I did find W1R1 tough but I did it and am determined to keep going. Iโ€™ve done a lot of sport throughout my life but lately itโ€™s all been power/fast walking and I want to run again after 30 years of not running. My knees need some work so they donโ€™t protest!

I am 68, so you are not an old lady. I have just completed week one and I'm determined to keep going so I can run for 30 minutes, lose some weight and maybe manage 5k

You can do it. It is all in the mind, just keep at it, repeat runs if necessary and enjoy ๐Ÿ˜
