Is it safe to run in 60mph wind?

Was all fired up to run tonight but it's a bit blustery out there. Checked the weather forecast and it's saying there are strong winds of up to 60mph in my town. Would I be mad to get out there?? πŸ™„

Asking the same myself, but concerned about the cold, I'm just back in from my W9 R1, where as I finished it things got very very icy, I had to walk up and down on the road in our street outside for my warmdown due to the black ice on the pavements.

Are we all just a little bit mad?

I think we're probably all a little bit bonkers! I decided to just go for it. Running against the wind was tough but on the plus side I got a bit of speed up with the wind behind me!

I’m not sure tbh, but if in doubt don’t go. If you do decide to go out, just avoid trees 🌳 I’m always worried they may get blown over, or drop branches! This reply sounds bonkers πŸ˜‚

Thanks Wenderwoo. I went for it. Didn't want to get off plan! It was tough but I'm glad I did it. Avoided trees 🌳

Not sure about it being mad, but more importantly, is it safe, you could be blown off course or hit by falling branches while you run, I think it would be, for safety reasons, do exercises at home and run tomorrow when the wind has died down a bit, I just read that there is another storm coming this weekend to hit the UK, his name is Storm Dennis.

I put my head out the door and it felt OK so I went for it. Was a bit blowy and not pleasant running into the wind but could've been worse. It was safe but I was running faster than normal whrn the wind was behind me 😊. I was afraid of messing up my plan and thought if I delayed tonight and Dennis comes in tomorrow, I'd lose my momentum.

OK, good for you, Storm Dennis is coming on Saturday sometime, I hope it or he doesn't stop any parkruns.

I had to miss my run, but figured 2 safe(ish) runs are better than potential calamity.

I was barely able to walk from the supermarket to my car, so running didn't seem to be an option. πŸ’¨πŸ’¨πŸ˜¬
