Really silly question.. on the C25K, we all start with a 5 minute walk. I have signed-up to do Parkrun, how do people warm up for this? I am assuming not with a brisk 5 minute walk?

You do whatever you like - it will become very obvious to you when you get there. It will start 9:00am, and people start arriving well before that and go through whatever routines they want to do. There are no rules, except to be on the start line at 9!

If you want to do a brisk walk... do one! :-)

Not a silly question at all. I'm not sure where you are on the c25k plan so if you want you can brisk walk to start then do the running sections or do your brisk walk before the start. Its up to you. Good luck 😊

We recommend that you stick to your C25k workout if doing parkrun mid programme.

When I did it I started with the 5 min walk, as I was doing a W6 run and thought I’d end up walking most of it anyway. I ended up running alone most of the way. When I’d completed the W6 run I walked for a bit, but then got sucked into running again. Boy, I knew about it the following week!

On my first parkrun the Saturday after graduation, I started with a 5 minute walk and took Jo Whiley along with me. I then walked again after the 30 minute run. After that I decided that my walk to the parkrun was sufficient warm up and started running from the start, but near the back so I didn’t get too carried away with speed. I then walked until I saw the finish line and gave another spurt. If you have just graduated it’s worth doing the 3 consolidation weeks before increasing the time/distance of your run to avoid injury.

There are usually people at parkrun who walk it all so don’t feel under pressure. Have a lovely time, it’s my favourite run of the week.
