Niggly foot pain now gone, back on my goal for the month

Had a few days off with a niggly foot problem - a pain on the top of big toe area.

Think I have sussed it out being caused by my skecher walkabout trainers. Really comfortable in fact best pair of trainers I have had for ages. However the upper part near the big toe area has got a nobble (for use of a better word) that is putting pressure on my foot. I have not noticed it at all before now. Anyhoo, a few days rest and wearing other footwear and the niggly pain disappeared. Managed to do a 4.7 mile trot in a coolish morning air towards my goal of 35 miles his month. I have actually managed 34 already so may up it to 50 miles, hoping the foot problem does not return.

Good to hear you pinpointed the cause of the pain – pesky shoes, eh? I am so sensitive about my feet now I am a runner, and am always on the look out for the most supportive, comfortable "day shoes". Sounds like you are going to smash your monthly goal! Woo hoo well done!

I am hoping so, it was only 5 days rest but seemed like a lot longer 🥺

Oh it always feels like longer 😢. I hate not being able to run now! Currently running one mile every day just to see how it feels...and it feels great. It’s a mini run streak, but I will get back to 5k again soon. 😁

Good detective work, Astra5! But how annoying that it's a pair that you really like.

Pure trial and error, could not believe it when I sussed it out!

Spoke too soon, had a run out today and the pain is back in my foot. Nearly turned around but just went slower than normal for 3.5 miles which is less than planned. Looks like a problem - “The pain is usually present in the metatarsal heads — the joint that is just under your toes — or the big toe‘‘

Must have been a red herring or wishful thinking about the skechers.

Ice or a bag of peas will be my friend for a couple of days then 😫
