Download the mapmyrun app! I use the free version and it works well (most of the time). You tell it when you start running and when you are finished and it produces a map of your route and gives you various stats about your run.

The above apps are very good. You register, and chose Run, press go and away you go. Don’t forget to stop it at the end.

Also, depending what phone you have you may already have a health app which would also work for you. E.g. I have a samsung, and it has the Samsung health app preinstalled. It works in pretty much the same way. I dare say Apple also have similar.

There are lots of apps you can use. Mapmyrun, strava and endomondo are the ones I have heard of the most. They a do pretty much the same thing and have free versions in the play store if you have a look.

You only have to open them on your phone and start a workout, it is pretty straight forward. You can get even more techy with it, but it doesn't have to be.

I use RunKeeper on my phone. I'm sure it's just the same as the others. But I know I can sync my Fitbit with it, so for the moment, I'm sticking with this.
