Hi all.Great to be part of this community. I didn't run for a long time after a hip injury. I've had lots of physio in the past, injections and an operation. I was told to do just do what I could and avoid anything high impact. This was about 7 years ago. I've just done my first run of week 6 and my hips are beginning to ache. I really don't want to stop, I'm loving the progress I'm making. Any advice for old nagging injuries?

Hips Playing Up
Take extra rest days, at least two and look at Strength and Flex forum for hip, glute and hamstring exercises you can do on those days to try to build strength in those areas before you build up to longer runs.
Maybe chat with your gp or a physio to see if you need to take any other precautions too.
I've had ongoing hip injuries although not to extent needing injection/operation. My hips are actually much better since starting c25k as I've done loads of strength and flex, and yoga, along with the running. For me, prolonged sitting really aggravated my hips and a standing desk at work helped enormously. Hope you find a solution
Your body gets stronger as you keep running slowly. Emphasis on slowly 🙂
If you’re new to running everything aches til you get conditioned. Taking things oh-so-slowly is key.
I do yoga at home in front of the telly and I think that helps me unravel. Hip opening exercises are easy and can be done on the bedroom floor before you turn in
Hang in there 🙂
Thanks everyone!
