Ouch poorvyou, twice. No idea how long, how is it for walking ? What about jogging on the spot? Hope you're still managing some gentle yoga or strength and flex. Take care, hope you're back running soon

Aw, poor you, that's really awful. I feel for you, my broken toe took 5.5 weeks before I ran. Doctor said 6 but I was bad.

I used Caroline Jordan and her hurt foot fitness videos to get me through, chair cardio and floor workouts.

Don't try to run on it if it's broken, you'll only make it worse, and the recovery time longer.

It's very tough ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ˜”

I like this reply Oldfloss....I shall let the toe decide!!.....๐Ÿ˜

The last time I broke toes was up a mountain a few years ago, two broken that day. You will have to judge for yourself when it's OK to go back, maybe try some brisk walks to begin with.

Good luck!

I broke my toe so badly on mickledore chimney (scafell Pike) that I had to have surgery on it! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

in reply to

Oh dear! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

I have arthritis now because of it.

in reply to

Me too! Something like hallux rigidus?!

in reply to

Osteoarthritis in base of both big toes. Think it's developing into hallux rigidus in one foot.

So sorry to hear about your injury Soniabrown! ๐Ÿค— It must be frustrating not knowing how long it could be. Going out too soon could be painful too, so wishing you a speedy recovery. โค๏ธ

I empathise entirely with your "I really wanna run". I'm feeling the same too! I am so close to my goal of doing 10k, and was scheduled to do a 9k tonight as part of the program. But last Saturday I think I strained something in the lower back after raking up the leaves on the lawn, and my two shorter runs on Monday and Wednesday resulted in quite a bit of discomfort, so I took the decision to give it a week to recover.

Trouble is ... today the back doesn't feel too bad (was a bit stiff getting out of bed) but after that - my body is saying you should get out this evening and just do it - probably go for the full 10k. So I just really wanna do it too!! I can just imagine myself running along the beautiful St. Helen's wharf in Abingdon with all the lights reflected on the river....

But common sense says don't take any risks with your back. We have a "staycation" next week in which we'll probably do plenty of walking so that will have to suffice.

Hi iain-strachan....hope you made a good decision regarding looking after your back, enjoy your hols!๐Ÿ˜Š

I decided not to do it. My first 10k ought to be a celebration of running round the town I love, and best not to risk it being ruined by back pain. Hope your toe continues to recover.
