Hi everybody!

Well done to everyone who took part in the Hello October Quest with me. I hope you all enjoyed working on your targets - tell us all about it in the comments 😊😊😊

Wrap up warm, and get ready to have more fitness fun in November - I am thinking I need some thicker socks to go with my new bike 😜

A brand new Quest will be starting tomorrow with the lovely Mummycav over on Bridge to 10K, so be sure to look out for her posts!!!

Hi Abi,

You are a busy lady.

My quest for Nov,is to complete C25k rebuild and continue with 3 consolidation runs per week before moving into my 2nd phase and a repeat of bridge to 10k.

I would love to finish the Nov Speed Challenge with a βœ…in my target boxes.

As soon as NSC is done I will resume the bolt on GFI6 Programme again.

Atb to all with their Nov quests.πŸ‘ŠπŸ’₯πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈβοΈβοΈπŸ‘πŸ‘

Started well then 3.5 weeks off with chest infection. Ran 2 days ago for 15 minutes and going out again this evening for a slightly longer run, I'll decide how long depending on how I feel. So 4 runs in total for October rather than the planned 12 but back on it now. Didn't do any strengthening exercises or try a new route either so they will be carrying over to the November quest.

How was your run?

The new Quest is over on Bridge to 10K, so you'll need to join there. Don't worry, you don't have to run 10K to be a member, it's all about carrying on with your running after graduating C25K - perfect really! 😊😊😊

Run was good thanks. I kept it to 20 minutes which was fine. I'm only able to around 3.5k in 30 minutes so was thinking of getting to 5k first before heading over to Bridge to 10k but having read this I will go there now and join the November quest!

Hi Roseabi my quest for November is to keep running outside for as long as possible, while on holiday in Canada.

Minus Temps, ice and snow have been interesting challenges. It has also forced me to stop being lazy and start a proper strength & flex routine. This has been much harder than runningπŸ™ˆ but with much encouragement from the strength & flex team I am getting there!! βœ…

Quest completed today with a running tired simulation. 12.88 mile walk at 3.1 mph average pace, then home, brew and my 1.25 mile gentle run. Not sure it was a great simulation, the running felt great, but at least it removed the desire to run longer!

Ready for the event in Sunday now and then it’s that Magic Plan with all the wonderful runners who’ve signed up, and hopefully some more who don’t know that they really want to do it as of yet!

Thanks for hosting... my main aim was to get through the month injury free and I’ve done it!

Ooh, thanks for the tip-off on how to find the next Quest... because October's has been pants for me.

The swimming started strong and well-paced and the yoga started well. The running was grim... Google is now showing signs of losing her hearing which complicates running even more. The poor dog. I am not yet resigned to running without her, especially as I don't have the energy to go for a run *and* take her for a walk (which she still needs although she doesn't seem that enthusiastic these days, especially not initially)

Essentially I was derailed by a bug (I'm not alone in that I see, commiserations Ping-pong and the after effects of a long trip I made in connection with my voluntary work... what little energy I had had to be devoted to things other than promoting my own physical fitness.

(But I did grow my own pumpkins for last night)

Poor little Google, and you! I wish us and our furry friends didn't have to get old 😒

Wow, how many pumpkins have you grown? Do you have them in your garden?

The poor dog is barely middle aged and she seems to have a lot of the burdens of a much older dog of her breed... but her life expectancy is supposed to be a normal one.

I only had three pumpkins for Hallowe'en... fortunately I only needed three. There was a 4th but the slugs carved that one in a truly horrific way and it collapsed a while back. Probably way cheaper to buy even organic ones than grow them!

roseabiβ€’ in reply toGoogleMe

Poor thing 😒

Ha, I suppose so! Still it must be something to see those growing I the garden!!

Gonna sneak this in even though it’s now November!

The first 10.26 miles of my half marathon were absolutely amazing... then as my right foot hit the floor I got a sharp pain in the ankle, and again on the next step... so I walked it off and jeffed my last bit. No more pain, but I wasn’t taking any chances... I have a 10k plan to run!!

Nike has my new HM PB as 2:24:14 and Garmin recorded 2:28:52... both way better than my expectations.

Generally Nike has been the more accurate of the two... but I don’t care which PB I look at, I’m going Sub 2 next year anyway!!!

roseabi profile image
roseabiβ€’ in reply toUnfitNoMore

Wow, well done!!! Hope the ankle thing remains a blip.

I was just wondering how you'd got on and up this comment pops. Spooky 😁

Here's to a sub-2 next year xxx

UnfitNoMore profile image
UnfitNoMoreGraduateβ€’ in reply toroseabi

It was fine over the last couple of miles, drive home and some walking about... it reminded me that this time last year that ankle was the one I damaged with my scree surfing madness, stopping me running until the end of December... I’ve come a long way from that first half mile comeback run!

Well my quest for October came unstuck with a knee injury. However with lots of strengthening exercises I am back to running, though I have decided to put the 10K training on hold until the next group starts up, and even then if I find it too much I may stop. I keep forgetting I am still a beginner in running terms so perhaps I need to consolidate for a bit longer. I've done two 5Ks this week and last night I did 2 miles (would have been longer but I needed the loo! :D) The knee let's me know that I am running but it isn't painful, more just a reminder that it doesn't want to be taken for granted! :)

roseabi profile image
roseabiβ€’ in reply toFatterPenguin

Sorry to hear that, Penguin! Glad you are on the mend though. Keep your runs slow and flat for a while, and build up your distance very gradually. Kudos for adding strength work! Keep it up, and check out our very own Strength & Flex forum for lots of great tips and chat 😊😊😊

Thank you Roseabi! I have been looking at strengthening exercises. I'm very lazy about that type of thing unless I have a problem, which probably explains why I hurt my knee in the first place!
