A lovely day for a run, but I was still a little fearful as I usual, but I’ve decided on a mindset that you must try - you’ll either do it or not, and if not treat it as a practice and keep practicing until you do it.
I definitely wanted music today to distract me, and tried Spotify this time, found a playlist of pop songs at 120bpm, and tested it with the C25K app before I went out. Off I went.....
I managed to complete it, and thoroughly enjoyed it! It’s weird, because I found that after the first and second run/walk, it’s like you get into a rhythm, or zone, or something and you can just keep going. I’m going very slowly of course, so don’t get exhausted where your gasping for breath - I think if I did that I’d give up!
So, once again, my mantra is slow, slow, slow, and you’ll do it. Speed and distance an come later.
My favourite track today: Raise your glass, Pink 🍻

Glad to see you've done week 4 run 1, you're progressing brilliantly. Never knock going slowly, if it gets you to the end of the run then the speed is fine, there is plenty of time to worry about speed and distance.
Just keep taking it slow and steady, listen to whatever music calms you and just breathe and plod along.
I've done my last couple of outdoor runs without music, just me, my breathing and whatever natural noise there is, quite therapeutic really.
Thanks. I’ve run a few times without music too, and probably enjoy it more tbh. I think I use music when I’m a bit daunted by the ramp up in the plan. I look forward to not needing the distraction 😊
If/when you find out what you have next, run-wise, just smile and tell yourself you can do it and off you go. Let the program prepare your body for the runs, you focus on preparing your head.
There is an old mind game, when you get 10 minutes give it a try, sit in the quiet, close your eyes and picture yourself running, even slowly, for x minutes, focus on your breathing, keep it calm and steady, picture yourself smiling as you hear the trainer in your ear tell you that's it, you've completed the run.
You are progressing well & so happy to hear you are finding a rhythm. The fist 10 mins of any run usually feels a little more difficult, so it’s always best to start off slowly and get through that bit & into the zone! Well done👏👍😀
Well done Wenderwoo, you are now officially a day ahead of me. I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed it too, and if you are now getting into the running zone, that's excellent . Like you, I'm a little anxious about starting this tomorrow, but I've also loaded some slower distraction music onto my phone and have been saying to myself go slowly & slower still still since finishing W3 R3 on Saturday in preparation for the longer runs. You've proved to yourself that you can do it so only 2 more W4 runs for you to go!
Well done once again Wenderwoo!! 👍👏🤗 You make me look forward to week 4, you really do. I hope I will be able to follow your example once again. Slowly as usual! 😉
