Samsung Galaxy Watch v Galaxy S7 phone...

I got a Galaxy Watch for my 60th the other week and have been tracking my runs with "Map my Run" app. Find it great and several people around me in the village use it and make their runs public so have no problems finding lots of alternative 5K plus runs.

My only issue is that previously I used Samsung Health on my phone to track my running and now find a discrepancy of about 20% between the 2.

On the same run using both Samsung Health on the phone recorded 33.38 Mins, 6KM, Av Pace 5.36/km and 498KCal.

Map My Run recorded 35.51 mins, 5.27KM, Av Pace 6.48/KM and 537 KCal.

Some of the time difference can be down to not stopping both apps at the same time.....

I expected a little difference but this much was a surprise and if the watch and Map My Run is correct then I have been kidding myself over the last year as to my distance and pace 😠

Has anyone else found this and which is the most accurate App?

In most instances it is the hardware that defines the accuracy of tracking, rather than the app.

Try Mapmyrun on your phone at the same time as you run it on the watch, then you can see any discrepancies between devices.

To establish which is most accurate is down to comparisons with known set distances. Most parkruns are pretty close to 5k and you can always compare with other runners.

Thanks. I did double check with Google Maps and the watch and Map My Run was the most accurate so I tend to think that the GPS in the watch is much more accurate than in my phone.....

Next run I will use Map My Run on the phone over the same route and see what it says.

I have a Samsung phone and was using the Samsung health app as well as Strava at one time . I ticked the box on the app to pick up when I was running but what I found was it was adding in the walking as well. I dint think any app or watch can be 100% accurate. Best is just to use one thing to track and go with that , I've now got a watch , a garmin and go with that . 😊

Yep, they're all different, I used Samsung Health in the beginning and actually found it was very generous both in distance and speed. I now use Garmin and I just accept that none of then can be fully accurate but if I only record on and look at one, it's good enough for my purposes. 👍🏻

Can't say which one is correct but I have the same discrepancies between my Galaxywatch-samsunghealth and the app I am using in the C25 program (It is not the official one). Around 10%less km in samsungheath than in the other app.

I am slowly progressing in the program so I dont mind the differences right now. But i am curious, if you get and answer let me know please!! 😀
