Transition run no. 2

I set the alarm this morning for 6am, not sure why I did that because I woke up a 2am, 4am, 5am and then every 10 minutes after that, until 5:53 when I decided that I was tired of waiting for the alarm to go off! So I got up, made Mrs LeeU a coffee and then woke her.

We headed down to our local ParkRun venue and set off doing Mrs LeeU's last run of week 4, her listening to the app and music, me listening to just music while relying on Mrs LeeU for the prompt when to run and when to walk.

I managed my pace better today, I had my Garmin set to display both heart rate and speed on the same screen so I could monitor both.

During part of the run I 'ran' at the pace I use as a slow run on the treadmill and outside it seems like I'm shuffling and barely moving, it seems like my outdoor slow pace is slightly higher than indoors.

Mrs LeeU completed the run fine, I did continue on a little bit after both of her 5 minute runs but that was just to stretch my legs a little and play with controlling my pace a little, I ran on for 100m or so, turned around and ran back and carried on with her walk.

At times I feel Mrs LeeU was trying to speed up so she wasn't slowing me down, even though that's the whole point of me running with her so I HAVE to slow down!

I now have 2 runs on a treadmill, I'll get back next Friday evening and then next Saturday we'll go out again for another transition run for me and one of the week 5 runs for Mrs LeeU.

Happy running everyone.

Great job... and trying out the parkrun course is a good idea!

Treadmills are like our speedometers in cars, they’re not 100% accurate unless calibrated and recalibrated a lot, so it’s not surprising to read that your outdoor comfortable pace is slightly different. Sounds like you’ve made a good transition in terms of keeping going though.

Well done to both of you.
