Thursdays run

After skipping my run yesterday due to feeling like I had Man Flu (yes it IS real and it's the worse disease know to, well, man), I didn't feel quite as crappy this morning, so I went for it.

I jumped on the treadmill, I had a customer meeting in Leeds and had to pick a colleague up on the way so the most I could do was a 30 minute run.

I set off, felt great but every so often it was like I was practicing out of air routines in diving, I'd go to breathe through my nose and it would be blocked, even though I'd only breathed through my mouth for a couple of breathes!

I managed to maintain a slightly faster than slow pace for the whole 30 minutes, I was aiming for neither speed nor distance, just the enjoyment of running.

After the shower it was special breakfast time, which meant poached eggs, on toast with Avocado, and so delicious it was.

One other benefit of this running lark, I haven't really worn formal trousers and shirt for a while and if I said the shirt is longer than I can ever remember it (there's not as much stomach to go over now) and the trousers definitely need the belt.

I urge everyone starting C25K to measure themselves, don't go by the scales, get arm, leg, waist, chest measurements and track those.

Happy running everyone.

Great running and yes I've had a head cold for a week and there's no way I'm able to nose breathe. So true about the scales, I was weighing myself once a month and sometimes the numbers were not going down much but the body shape definitely changes. I've never tried avocado. 😊😊

I normally weigh myself once a month, if I'm going away for work I normally do a before and after to see how much damage I have done (hotel food is rubbish), there are so many factors when it comes to losing weight, and that's just for men, women have more factors as you know.

My youngest daughter got me into eating Avocado on toast with poached egg, it's gorgeous, Oldfloss is quite partial to this as well (no I haven't had breakfast with her, I've mentioned it previously and it's forced her to have the same).

I always said it looked disgusting but it's not, give it a try, make sure the Avocado is ripe, smash it up or slice it, put it on some warm toast with a poached egg on it.

Avocado is a superfood and very good for you.

Yum, my favourite breakfast after a run! With added red chili or hot chili sauce for me please! 😋

I just read your reply to another post asking about weight loss, really inspiring. It's not all about the scales, it's about a life change we are all making, whatever shape and size we are.

Yes, adding in some chilli sauce is a good call and also very nice.

If I didn't step on the scales again I'd be quite happy but I like to keep a track on my weight without doing it daily or weekly, monthly or prior and post a work trip seems about the best way for me.

I know my body is changing, I get a daily reminder when I'm tightening my belt - I haven't undone a button on a pair of jeans or trousers for several months now, I've lost about 4 inches off of my waist and that makes them several inches too big.

Wow Lee, that is brilliant. I think you've got the balance just right, monitoring without obsessing. I suppose I was thinking about people who start running, but panic that they are not losing weight. But you can SEE that they are fitter, fat is turning to muscle, they look slimmer and healthier.

Not what you're looking for?
