So I completed day 1 of week 2 yesterday, wow, quite a bit harder than week 1 but I did it! Never would have thought I could ever run. Feel a bit achy today, neck is a little stiff but I’m sure I will recover.

Great for getting started and in to wk2. When you are running try to keep your shoulders and arms relaxed that will help with your neck.

C25k is an amazing plan and really does work you'll get lots of encouragement and support on here good luck 😊😊

And you will continue to amaze yourself each week. Just try to relax while running so that you do see tense those shoulders. Have fun.

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and includes advice on pacing and stretching after every run, which should help.

Aching neck muscles are a sign of tension. It is not a good idea to hold anything in your hands as you run, as they need to be relaxed and unclenched. Follow the link in the guide to the article about posture.

Enjoy your journey.

Hey there Mrs SH. I just spotted you on here. We are at the same stage, same age (almost) and have same goals. I’m currently on the couch - literally(!) contemplating (or rather dreading) my W2R1 sesh. I see you did yours yesterday, so I’m gonna get up, get my kit on and do it ~ just so I can keep up with you! 🤣 🏃‍♀️ 👟

Hi there, so did you do it? I hope so, bloody hard isn’t it! I had to do day 2 tomorrow and dreading it. I have a bad back at the minute, it’s ok whilst I keep moving but if I sit for a while I struggle getting up, but I can’t stop training! One of my goals is to pass the Essex police fitness test, which I have on 26th of this month, so I don’t have much time.

Good morning MrsSH. Yep, I dragged myself off the couch and reluctantly plodded over to the gym last night and I’m so glad I did. The run was surprisingly ok (not easy but nowhere as hard as I was expecting) so yay!! No real aches this morning, just a little stiff to start.

Good luck with yr run today! Let me know how it goes. Hope yr back is ok ~ you recovering from an injury?

What’s all that about the Essex Police Fitness Test? That seems scary! Start of a new career?? 👮‍♂️

Afternoon Fanny! WK2D2 accomplished! Glad you got up and did it yesterday, it does feel good when you finish doesn’t it? I found today was easier on my breathing but that my legs felt tired. I get mid way and I feel ok for a while and have a burst of energy but then I feel tired again.

I have passed all the assessments to join the Essex police as a special in their serious crime directorate (SCD), my last hurdle is the fitness test. I failed it the first time, but then I knew I would as although I had been improving my general fitness I wasn’t focused on the running. I have never been able to run except for when I was younger and playing team sports.

I had been doing a class on my rest days, but have stopped that now, as I think it was too much. Needed my rest day yesterday, but felt pretty good this morning. I think I pulled my back when I was exercising with a kettle bell at one of my classes, but I have stopped all those now to focus on this programme. One hurdle at a time I think!

Who would have thought I would get to 56 and be doing this eh!

Oh my days Mrs SH - you’re going to be running after crims!?!? 🏃‍♀️🤣

Hi Fanny, hopefully I won’t be chasing crims, but contributing to solving investigations. So did you complete WK2D2 today? How did you find it?
