Tips for finding a route whilst abroad?

Quickie question for you lovely people: at the end of the month I'm off on holiday for a week and I'd love to keep up my running whilst I'm away. Do you have any go to apps or tips for finding a safe, enjoyable route to shuffle round in a city you don't know?

I usually just go out and explore. Normally the worst that can happen is you have to backtrack a bit. You can also look at the Strava website and see where other people are running. Use Google maps street view to have a closer look.

Hi! I used: greatruns.com/location/wars...

when I was travelling. Where are you going? (One of us might have been)

Off to Brussels, Cologne, and Luxembourg

So for Brussels I would imagine the Laeken area would be nice in the park. In town itself avoid the old part as cobbled (ankles!!). Cologne I think my friend did her run along the river there, Luxembourg, nice and hilly, you can do a trail run from the Philhamornie to the old town and all along the river at the bottom. Enjoy!

Fantastic, thanks for the advice! As for the cobbles, part of my regular route is along cobbles, and yes, not fun!

That website also mentions running tours, could be a fun way to discover a town!

If you google ‘running routes in <wherever it is you are going>’ it will come up with any organised routes there, e.g. ready laid tracks or events. MapMyRun will show you the routes others have used, you will quickly see commonly used routes. Parks, promenades, river paths etc are usually a good place to start.
