w2r3 just done, want to thank you all on here for keeping me going, i found the last run really hard and thought of every excuse not to do todays, but then i read all the advise you guys gave me and went for it and do you know what i found it easier than saturdays run.
Just a question, im sticking to flat roads at the moment at waht stage do you advise to incorporate some hills....
Thank you again.

Well done for giving it go and doing it. I tended to go for a smaller hill(s) on my last run of the week. I left the really difficult ones until after graduation.
thanks for that Skeg i just wondered if i was just fooling myself that i was doing well because i was just running on the flat, feel better now
Well done Shelly. If all goes according to plan, you should be finding that R3 of each week is easier than the previous two.
As for hills, I've been avoiding them at all cost. But I said to myself that now I'm on week 6, I'm going to do the final part of W6R1 or 2 uphill. Hills are great for building stamina.
Thanks Hidden i did try a small hill today as it was the last run of week 2 but when i did a hill on saturday it killed me, but that sounds like a plan
I waited until after I’d consolidated my runs post graduation before tackling mountains (ok small inclines!), and have been building a few more in as I’ve gone on. At this stage you’re really learning to run for 30 minutes - hills, speed, 5k - can all come later!
Oh I’m so glad! I absolutely love it - had a lovely 50 min run yesterday (a chance during a brief break in storms & heat) and felt great. You’ll get there too - soon but slowly! 🤣 x
Glad it is working out, 2 weeks done, just another 7 to go, but they do get better. Even the scary ones like Week 5 - you'll discover that you can do them because of this hard work now.
There are ups and downs, don't be fooled, there will be wet cold days when the very last thing you will want to do is put the kit on and go out. If you are lucky you will avoid injury, the main danger time is in the first weeks after you graduate, but people do pull muscles and twist ankles at any time, despite the best intentions - that's when the community gets to be very very important, as I have found out. We don't want all your hard work to be wasted.
Hills when you want, there is no need to do them until you want to. I don't have a choice, it's uphill in every direction...
