Anyone have any knowledge of plantar fascitis?

Ok so, I have self diagnosed that I have plantar fascitis. It is really painful to walk on my left foot when I get up. It's gradually been getting worse with the running. I really don't know what to do, as now the sole is hurting sitting with my leg up. Also the tendon from the big toe on the top of my foot has started twinging. Don't know if these are connected. Now I know that you'll probably all say go see the doctor, but it's near impossible to get an appointment. All the advice seems to be to rest up. I am overweight, which is clearly putting more strain on my foot. I just can't stop running at this point, I know that I won't restart if I lose all the progress I've made. Any help or advice appreciated x

I have suffered from this on and off over a number of years. I tend to use ice as suggested on NHS advice. I try to remember to put my feet up and rest as well when suffering. If it is really sore I back down from running. However I do tend to shorten runs if sore, but try not to miss too many. Running, for me, has improved things over the year. Ice, ice baby!

It takes ages to go, but follow the exercises on the NHS site and you should get there in the end.

I find a tin of frozen baked beans really helps. Always keep one in the freezer !

It could also be the lack of support or cushioning from your running shoes or the surface you are running on.

I had a completely different issue and I switched running between field and pavement and it helped.

The advice is to rest up for 2 weeks, you will not lose any conditioning in this time, see how it goes, and good luck
